  • The gold mining areas in and around Queenstown on the South Island, such as Skippers Canyon, Macetown and Arrowtown. Queenstown really began when gold was discovered there in the 1860’s and now the landscape still tells a fascinating tale of that heritage with 4WD tracks and rivers taking you through the routes originally forged by the pioneers. Shops in the small settlement of Arrowtown still display original facades from that time and many adventures are now created around the goldrush.
  • Glenorchy and Mt Aspiring National Park, a short drive from Queenstown along Lake Wakatipu. The setting for many scenes from the Lord of the Rings movie, the moss-covered original beech forests in this World Heritage Area make it an unmissable part of any visit to New Zealand. Crystal-clear braided rivers, beautiful unspoilt forest and snow-capped mountains – perfect for wilderness safaris, exclusive marquee dinner locations and the base for many adventures.

With a population of only 4.2 million, the overwhelming impression of the land is pure and green, with fresh air and clean waters. From the majestic fiords and Southern Alps of the South Island, to the ancient native rainforests and silver, sandy bays of the North Island, New Zealand is a land of awesome beauty. Queenstown (Māori: Tahuna) is a resort town in Otago in the south-west of New Zealand’s South Island, built around an inlet called Queenstown Bay on Lake Wakatipu, a long thin Z-shaped lake formed by glacial processes, and has spectacular views of nearby mountains such as The Remarkables, Cecil Peak, Walter Peak and just above the town; Ben Lomond and Queenstown Hill.
