Elegant, creative, and closely connected to nature, Helsinki is a capital where urban life meets the calm waters of the Baltic Sea. Built on a peninsula and surrounded by islands, the Finnish capital offers open waterfronts, striking architecture, and a relaxed atmosphere where everything feels within easy reach.
Helsinki is internationally recognized for its strong design heritage and contemporary creativity. From the iconic works of Alvar Aalto to the vibrant Design District, the city blends clean Nordic aesthetics with modern innovation. Landmarks such as Senate Square and the Helsinki Cathedral reflect its neoclassical past, while contemporary architecture and cultural spaces highlight the city’s forward-looking spirit.
Nature is an essential part of life in Helsinki. Just minutes from the city center begins an archipelago of more than 300 islands, offering scenic boat excursions, historic sites such as the UNESCO-listed Suomenlinna fortress, and tranquil coastal landscapes. Parks, forests, and seaside promenades are woven naturally into the urban environment.
Helsinki’s culinary scene has also gained international attention, combining Nordic traditions with modern creativity. From innovative restaurants to lively market halls and waterfront cafés, the city offers a diverse and authentic food culture.
Modern yet understated, Helsinki captures the essence of Finland: thoughtful design, natural beauty, and a calm, confident atmosphere.

Finland is a Nordic country in Northern Europe, bordered by Sweden to the west, Norway to the north and Russia to the east, with a long coastline along the Baltic Sea. Much of Finland’s landscape is defined by forests and water, with tens of thousands of lakes spread across the country. Finland stretches approximately 1,160 kilometres from south to north and is commonly divided into several regions, including Southern Finland, Western Finland, Eastern Finland and Lapland in the far north, which lies partly within the Arctic Circle.
