Estonia is one of Europe’s smallest countries but has surprisingly much to offer; a beautiful varied countryside of islands, lakes, rivers and forests, dotted with historic manors, castles and quaint medieval cities. The crown jewel of sights is historic Tallinn, where the old town is so extraordinarily well-preserved, that your first step inside the city wall is like taking a step hundreds of years back in time.

Summer season is warm and wonderful for city visits and for seeking out adventures along the 3,800 km of coastline or exploring the beautiful national parks of the interior. And there’s no end of options for winter holidays in Estonia. Explore the countryside – go skiing, skating or sledging, and admire nature’s works of art. Enjoy the many cultural events around the country, stroll through the beautifully adorned Old Town in Tallinn and visit the Christmas market.

  • Experience the Estonian Song Festival (Laulupidu) – one of the largest amateur song festivals in the world (only every 5 years in July)
  • Canoeing or hiking in beautiful Soomaa national park
  • Discover the unique island culture of Saaremaa Island in the Baltic Sea
  • Fishing trips
  • Estonia boasts five resort towns, more than 40 spas, a range of unique and luxurious manor hotels, and untouched countryside with the world’s cleanest air

  • Go geo-caching for one of the thousand treasures hidden in Estonia
  • Enjoy winter sports like skiing, snowboarding, snow tubing or ice skating (winter)
  • Take to the beaches for water sports and activities like windsurfing or jet skiing (summer)
  • Discover other Estonian towns like the popular beach resort town of PΓ€rnu or the youthful and cultural university town of Tartu
  • Lose yourself in Tallinn’s medieval Old Town – a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage Site

Estonia is bordered to the north by the Gulf of Finland, to the west by the Baltic Sea, to the south by Latvia (343 km), and to the east by Lake Peipus and Russia (338.6 km). Across the Baltic Sea lies Sweden in the west and Finland in the north. The territory of Estonia covers 45,227 square km. Geographically, Estonia is on the north-eastern edge of the European Union, bordering Russia and Latvia. A tiny country, it only has around 1.4 million inhabitants, yet is amazingly beautiful and steeped in colourful history.
