Spain is a sun-drenched
and untamed nation
littered with glittering
beaches. As the second
largest country in the
EU, Spain occupies
approximately 80 percent
of the Iberian
Peninsula. It borders
with France and Andorra
to the north and
Portugal to the west.
Spain offers many
stunning areas to
explore, the green hills
and ocean coves of the
north, castles and
medieval towns across
the interior, the white
villages of Andalucía,
and mountain ranges such
as the Gredos and Sierra
Nevada. Spain’s climate
is so varied that it is
possible to be skiing on
the slopes of the Sierra
Nevada in the morning
and then enjoy a late
lunch in the sun in
Granada, just half an
hour away.
Spain’s lifestyles are
as different as its
geography and climate.
Barcelona is all energy,
drive and business,
while Madrid has the
more restrained
atmosphere of diplomacy
and government. However,
come the late evening,
bars in cities and towns
all over the country
come alive with people
enjoying tapas, fine
wine and enjoying all
life has to offer.
Spain has four official
languages and while its
regions differ greatly
from one another, they
are united by a national
passion for drama,
contrast and a noisy,
live-for-today hedonism.
Spain offers a
combination of both
natural and artistic
heritage.
